The privilege of cinema is to allow a large number of people to dream the same dream together and to show with the most rigorous realism the ghosts of the unreal. It is an admirable vehicle of poetry.

Jean Cocteau, Testament of Orpheus, 1960

LAGE is inspired by the stories and alternate realities of films. Each collection is an interpretation, capturing and revealing its character in the form of jewellery.
The genderfluid pieces, meant to be worn as a reminder of the importance of daydreaming, tell a reimagined story through texture, composition and proportion rooted in tactile, imperfect and sculptural qualities.

Created in 2020 by Portuguese London based architect Joana Ferro, LAGE combines the passion for design, handcrafting and art.
The organic process of handmaking jewellery is incredibly rewarding and much like architecture, understanding how a piece comes together requires a symbiosis between the making and designing with continuous experimentation being at the core of the creative process.

The name LAGE, pronounced lágeu, comes from bricolage, the act of creating from a diverse range of available things.
LAGE symbolizes the creative process that each piece involves, experimenting intuitively with what is immediately around, that being tools, materials and inspiration.

LAGE is a Portuguese brand and pieces are designed and handcrafted in our East London based atelier.
With a sustainable practice in mind we rely on local suppliers, casting and gold plating workshops located in Hatton Garden, supporting the long lasting local heritage of craftsmanship. All materials used are ethically sourced and recycled where possible, such as 100% recycled silver and brass for all cast pieces.
